Following the success of the Teddy Bear Project in December 2025, Beverley and her dedicated team set out on a new mission — one that would bring warmth and comfort to children during the colder months. Thus, The Beanie Project was born.
The goal was simple yet meaningful: knit 100 children’s beanies over the course of three months, ensuring that little ones would have warm headgear as the winter chill approached. While some of the regular ladies were unfortunately unable to participate due to medical reasons, Beverley showed incredible determination by recruiting additional helping hands to keep the project on track.
Despite the challenge of knitting through the heat of January and February, the team persevered. Their motivation was clear — knowing that colder days were ahead, and that each beanie would make a difference. With Cape Town experiencing an early winter this year, their timing could not have been more perfect.
The talented knitters who brought this project to life were Christa van Zyl, Andriette Redelinghuys, Frances Smith, and Beverley van Rhyn. Their commitment and care are woven into every stitch.
Support for the project came from Ronel Moses, while generous donations helped add an extra touch of joy. Easter eggs, kindly donated by Veronica Andalis and Ronel Moses, were included with each beanie — a small surprise that brought big smiles. Additional contributions were gifted by the Bosman family, further strengthening the spirit of community behind the initiative.
The beanies were distributed in the Leonsdale, Elsies River area, where they were warmly received. The impact was immediate and heartwarming — bright smiles, grateful hearts, and children now better prepared for the cold days ahead.
The Beanie Project is a beautiful reminder of what can be achieved when compassion meets action. Through dedication, teamwork, and generosity, this initiative didn’t just provide warmth — it spread kindness, hope, and joy throughout the community.
